unless you are using the dots in a Forum, such as the About.Com's quit smoking

Short history behind these special dots. Stars are the reward for one full month of being smoke free on the About.com Smoking Cessation Forum and everyone in the forum eagerly awaits each and every star! One of the Formily members, Luisa, one day began to think, and from that thought came this post:
"This one is mostly addressed to the moderators and olbies...
I have been thinking about all the newbies that fall off the tracks because it is so hard to stop smoking. I KNOW stars helped lot of us stick around just for the fun of it, the feeling of being sooo proud of ourselves, the waiting for the collection to get bigger, etc, etc...
Sooooooooooo.... I was thinking that, in order to keep some more newbies around, maybe, just MAYBE, we (you) could give them a little token... like a colored dot for every WEEK they pass, until they get a month in, when they can trade the dots for their first star! Kind of like our stars, but only temporarily the first month... I think it may work with some people.
Look at us, we all go nuts for our stars and proudly show them on the forum at all times! I think the first few weeks, which are the hardest, should be rewarded in some way, and some colored dots or similar might do the job... So you collect four dots before you get your first star.
What do you guys think about it? I think it would be a great idea for newbies, something to look forward to at the end of every week, this way Bruce wouldn't have to b*tch about it every time some newbie wants his/hers star at the four week mark"
AND SO ANTI SMOKING NEWBIES HAVE DOTS TO COUNT OFF THE WEEKS QUIT THANKS TO LUISA!
These little shining
orbs just might make the difference for some who would otherwise be on the
verge of back
sliding into the world of smoking again! It would be very difficult
to track, but I'll be willing to bet that statistics
for newbies successfully reaching their 1st star goes up now because of
the Newbie Dots!

A MESSAGE TO THE JUNIQUE JUNOPERS AND
all my other olbie friends in the forum!
| To my fellow Junique Junopers...and other old friends in Forum.
I just wanted to let you know that I can't get into the forums. Try as I might, I can't remember my original login, so I created a new login with my second email address, and was able to post my 2 year milestone on June the 8th. However, since then, I've not been able to log back in. I must have written something wrong in the user name and/or password. I've tried asking for my password by answering my sercret quesiton, but to no avail.. So instead I'll have to use this way to say howdy to everyone. If someone who knows me see's this would you post a howdy to everyone and say thanks for the nice response to my milestone post in the olbies thread? And I want to say congratulations to all my fellow Junique Junopers who made it to their 2 year mark and beyond! |
